A GNO (Girl's Night Out!)

Last night, Jordyn and Mommy went downtown Iowa City.  We ate at a trendy restaurant (Jordyn got Gelato and Mommy got a Portabelo Sandwich).  Then, we had the wonderful privilege of hearing Temple Grandin at the University of Iowa.  She drew such a crowd that there were people standing and sitting on the floor in the back of the room.  (Yes, that was us...Jordyn sitting and Mommy standing to see....)  It was packed I tell you, packed!  And now I know why!  I expected to go there hearing about how to help students with Autism.  She spoke about that and SO much more.  Humor, I didn't expect the humor.  I only wish ALL of my students could hear about the possibilities for success for all students.
After we left, and waited through the 30 minutes in the parkade, the backseat comments started.  I heard, "Mommy, there's a new number that everyone's talking about.  Really, there is.  It's got a curly on the top and a curly on the bottom, and it kind of looks like an E, but not really.  I just wrote it on the window.  I heart the new number!"  LOL!
When we got home, with a VERY tired child, we still played a not-so-fast game of checkers.  A long, cultured, fun night!
Thank you, Jesus for my wonderful night with our special girl!
